The
Ukrainian Knowledge Internet Portal (UKiP) Consortium Association,
is a consortium of organizations interested in the development
and deployment of on-line resources for learning the Ukrainian
language and culture. Headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta,
the UKiP Consortium Association coordinates an inter-provincial network of institutions
that develops and provides bilingual (Ukrainian-English) on-line
learning resources to Canadian schools and post-secondary
institutions, as well as to an extended world wide audience.
oomRoom.ca
is an educational Internet Web site developed under the guidance
of the UKiP Consortium Association, for the Kindergarten to
Grade 12 audience. oomRoom.ca provides access to peer-reviewed
language learning resources and tools for teachers, learners,
and parents. The UKiP Consortium Association welcomes your
comments and encourages you to participate in the further
expansion of oomRoom.ca.
If
you are curious about how we derived the name of
oomRoom.ca, the "oom" in oomRoom.ca is a representation of the Ukrainian acronym
for the term "Ukrainian Learning Network" or (Ум). It also means "intellect" in Ukrainian, thus oomRoom.ca encourages us to
use our intellect to explore the possibilities of communication.
For more information about the UKiP Consortium Association or
oomRoom.ca, or if you or your
organization wish to participate in this exciting new
on-line initiative, send an e-mail to ukip@ualberta.ca.
